The ride starts easy — fast open plateau riding across Assy. Then the Amangeldy pass hits you. Rocky, steep, with icy streams cutting across the trail. Snow patches even in July. The descent to the Chilik River is where your downhill skills get tested hard. The catch: to get home, you have to climb that same 1,000 meters of elevation back up the pass. No cell signal. No rescue. No room for broken bikes.
Helmet, balaclava, body armor with arm protection, knee pads (worn over your pants), jersey, and gloves.
Water, windbreaker jacket (depending on weather), thick pants, and comfortable closed-toe shoes.
"The pass itself is loose rock at altitude where every wrong move costs you. No flat sections to recover. Day two my hands were so sore I could barely grip the bars. But you look around and there's nobody for 50 km in any direction."
Каирбек Ж."Complexity 10 is not marketing. I had a headache from the altitude for most of day two. The guide turned back a rider in our group who was struggling on day one. If you're not honest about your level, this pass will show you."
