BAO is a glacial lake that changes color with the seasons: deep blue in spring, turquoise by July. The road up has been closed to combustion vehicles since 2020, so an electric bike is the only motorized way to get there. The ride is all paved — no off-road skills needed. You climb through dense Tian Shan spruce forest, stop a few times for photos and tea, and end up at a lake that sits in a bowl of mountains at 2,511 meters. Everyone comes back wanting more.
Helmet, balaclava, body armor with arm protection, knee pads (worn over your pants), jersey, and gloves.
Water, windbreaker jacket (depending on weather), thick pants, and comfortable closed-toe shoes.

"First time on a dirt bike and they put me on the BAO route. No engine sound, just tires on gravel and wind. The lake color at 2,500m is hard to believe even when you're standing there."
Alex M."The color of the lake is unreal — turquoise against snow-capped peaks. The electric bike made the climb effortless. Perfect for a first ride!"
Елена В."Good beginner route. Guide was patient when I stalled on a switchback. Only wish we had more time at the lake itself, felt rushed at the top."
