You climb the classic forest trail to the Kok-Zhailau plateau — roots, rocks, clay, the usual. But instead of going back the same way, the return route follows the top of the mountain ridge itself. It's narrow. One side drops into a forested gorge, the other side drops toward the city. You can see all of Almaty from up there. Riding this 'blade' takes focus and calm hands on the throttle. It's one of the more photogenic routes we run — and one of the more nerve-wracking.
Helmet, balaclava, body armor with arm protection, knee pads (worn over your pants), jersey, and gloves.
Water, windbreaker jacket (depending on weather), thick pants, and comfortable closed-toe shoes.
"The ridge trail is next level! You ride along the mountain spine with valleys dropping on both sides. Not for the faint-hearted."
Бауыржан Е."The ridge section had me white-knuckling the handlebars. Gorge on the left, city on the right, trail maybe a meter wide. But it's well-worn and the guide stays close. Would do it again."
