Overview
Charyn Canyon is 12 million years old. You start on the steppe surrounding the canyon, riding over rolling hills and stopping at viewpoints along the rim. Then you descend into the Valley of Castles - red sandstone pillars shaped by millions of years of wind and water. The canyon floor is sandy gravel, and it leads to the Charyn River. If you time it for sunrise or sunset, the red rock walls look like they're on fire. It's a full-day trip from Almaty (200 km each way), but nobody regrets making it.

- How much does the Charyn Canyon tour cost?
- 55,000 KZT per person. Includes 4x4 transfer from Almaty to the canyon and back (200 km each way), electric bike, guide, and full gear.
- Do I need riding experience?
- No. The Valley of Castles is flat, sandy terrain - technically straightforward. We run a briefing for first-timers. Minimum age 14 years.
- What is the best season for Charyn Canyon?
- April-May and September-October. In summer the canyon hits +40°C in the shade - very hot on a bike. Winter is scenic but we don't run tours then.
- Is 4x4 transfer from Almaty included?
- Yes, fully. We take the whole group by 4x4 from Almaty to Charyn and back. No need to arrange your own vehicle.
