Sur-Ron Light Bee X
Light & Easy
55 kg, easy to handle, forgiving on mistakes. The bike most beginners start on. Good for forest trails and learning the basics.

Charyn Canyon is 12 million years old. You start on the steppe surrounding the canyon, riding over rolling hills and stopping at viewpoints along the rim. Then you descend into the Valley of Castles - red sandstone pillars shaped by millions of years of wind and water. The canyon floor is sandy gravel, and it leads to the Charyn River. If you time it for sunrise or sunset, the red rock walls look like they're on fire. It's a full-day trip from Almaty (200 km each way), but nobody regrets making it.
Helmet, balaclava, body armor with arm protection, knee pads (worn over your pants), jersey, and gloves.
Water, a windbreaker or jacket (depending on the weather), durable pants, and comfortable closed-toe shoes.

"200 km drive to get there, worth every minute. Riding the canyon floor between 300m red walls, sand under the tires, zero sound from the bikes. Andrey timed it so we hit the Valley of Castles at golden hour."
Мария К."The canyon is otherworldly. Red rock formations towering on both sides while you ride the riverbed. Full day but never felt long."
Viktor S."Long drive to get there but absolutely worth it. The canyon riding is unlike anything else in Kazakhstan. Pack sunscreen!"
Жанна У.
Same start as Kok-Zhailau, but instead of turning back, you keep climbing. Rocky trail to 2,500m with views down onto Shymbulak and Medeu that most people never see.

Up through the forest to Kok-Zhailau, back along the razor-thin mountain ridge. Drops on both sides. Requires steady nerves and good balance.

Full-day crossing: rocky climb to the Assy Plateau (2,750m), past the observatory and nomad yurts, then a plunge through forest down to the 55m Kairak waterfall. Campfire lunch.
