Overview
Kaskelen valley is different from every other gorge near Almaty. Instead of narrow rock walls, it's wide and open - vast meadows, small lakes scattered around, a river snaking through the middle. The ride from Almaty is long and takes you through pine forest, sudden river crossings, and high-speed dirt roads where you can open up the throttle. The electric motors run at peak RPM on the long straights. The lakes at the end sit in a landscape that people compare to Tibet - big sky, big space, few people.
