Overview
This route connects two very different places in one long day. First, a tough rocky climb up to the Assy Plateau at 2,750 meters - wide open alpine meadows where nomads set up yurts in summer and the astrophysical observatory domes sit on the horizon. You cross the plateau and then the route drops sharply into thick forest, eventually leading to the 55-meter Kairak waterfall. The contrast between the open steppe above and the dark forest below is striking. Campfire lunch along the way. You'll be tired by the end.
