Overview
Kairak is the tallest waterfall in the Trans-Ili Alatau - 55 meters of water crashing down a rock face. Getting there is the adventure. The trail runs alongside the Turgen River, crossing it at several points (yes, you ride through the water). You'll go through ancient spruce forest covered in moss, deal with mud after rain, and navigate rocky sections. It takes most of the day. The waterfall at the end makes it all worth it - the sound hits you before you see it. Lunch on the trail.
