Arctic Leopard XT 620
Light but Strong
80 kg with 600 Nm - light enough to maneuver on narrow trails, powerful enough to climb steep grades. A good step up from the Sur-Ron.

This is the hardest thing we do. Starting beyond Big Almaty Lake, you cross the Zhusaly-Kezen Pass at 3,336m and drop into territory where there are no trails, no cell towers, no other people. You manage your battery like a fuel gauge because running out means walking. The ride takes two days with an overnight camp in whatever spot you find. The physical demand is extreme. A few people do this every season. They all say the same thing: nothing else compares.
Helmet, balaclava, body armor with arm protection, knee pads (worn over your pants), jersey, and gloves.
Water, a windbreaker or jacket (depending on the weather), durable pants, and comfortable closed-toe shoes.

"2-day circumnavigation of Big Almaty Lake. Camping at 3000m, riding through snow patches - this is the king of all tours."
Рустем М."Day one: climb to the ridge above the lake, set up camp. Day two: descend the far side on terrain that barely sees traffic. Some sections I was the first tire track in weeks. Slept at 3,000m and woke up inside a cloud."

Level 10. The upper lake at 2,850m - 6 km from the Kyrgyz border. No roads exist. A handful of people have gotten a bike up there. You need a border pass.

Level 10. Easy start on Assy Plateau, then a brutal climb to 3,700m. Snow in summer. Descent to the Chilik River. The way back climbs 1,000m - no shortcuts.

Level 10. Above the Ak-Bulak ski resort, into mountains closed to tourists. Wet grass on 45-degree slopes turns to ice. Total silence. Total isolation.
